How To Clean Lash Ribbons: Step-by-Step Guide

How To Clean Lash Ribbons: Step-by-Step Guide

Keeping your lash ribbons clean is essential for maintaining their look and extending their lifespan. Here’s a step-by-step guide to make sure your lash ribbons are always ready for reuse.

Gather materials

Before you start cleaning your lash ribbons, gathering the right materials is important to ensure a thorough yet gentle cleaning process.

Having the right tools on hand will make the entire process smoother and help preserve the quality of your lash ribbons.

  • Gentle lash cleanser or baby shampoo: These are perfect for breaking down makeup and dirt without damaging the lash fibers.
  • Isopropyl alcohol: Great for a deeper clean, especially if there’s stubborn glue or bacteria. You can soak your lash ribbons in this for an extra disinfecting boost.
  • A clean, lint-free cloth or cotton pads: To pat your lash ribbons dry after cleaning. Avoid anything that could leave behind fibers or lint.
  • Small bowl or dish: Use this to mix your cleaning solution or to soak the ribbons.
  • Tweezers (optional): Perfect for carefully removing excess glue without pulling or damaging the lash band.
  • Spoolie: Helps gently brush through the lash ribbons to remove any dirt or makeup residue.
  • Spray bottle (optional for disinfecting): More on this below!

Curious about the lifespan of your lash ribbons? Find out how long do lash ribbons last with proper care.

1. Spray bottle (optional for disinfecting)

A spray bottle filled with isopropyl alcohol or a gentle disinfectant solution can be a handy tool for disinfecting your lash ribbons between uses. After removing excess glue and cleaning the lashes, lightly mist them with the disinfecting solution to kill any bacteria or germs that may be lingering.

Be sure to let the ribbons air dry completely after spraying. This added step helps keep your lash ribbons fresh and hygienic for multiple uses, especially if you wear them frequently.

2. Prepare cleaning solution

In a small bowl or dish, mix a gentle lash cleanser or a few drops of baby shampoo with water. For a deeper clean, you can also use isopropyl alcohol to disinfect the lash ribbons and remove tough residue.

3. Remove excess glue

Before soaking the lash ribbons, use tweezers or your fingers to gently peel off any visible glue from the lash band. Removing the excess glue makes it easier to clean them thoroughly.

4. Soak Lash Ribbons

Place your lash ribbons into the cleaning solution or isopropyl alcohol. For a more intense clean, let the lash ribbons soak overnight. This helps loosen any makeup or adhesive that’s stuck on them.

5. Gently clean

After soaking, use a spoolie or a soft makeup brush to gently brush the lash ribbons, helping remove any leftover glue or makeup residue. Place the lash ribbons on kitchen roll (paper towel) while cleaning to catch any excess product.

6. Rinse

Rinse your lash ribbons with clean, lukewarm water to remove any remaining cleanser or alcohol. Be gentle to avoid damaging the lash fibers.

7. Drying

Lay the lash ribbons on a clean, lint-free cloth or cotton pad and gently pat them dry. Avoid rubbing, as this can ruin the shape of the lash ribbons. Let them air dry completely before storing.

8. Store properly

Once your lash ribbons are completely dry, store them in their original packaging or a clean, dust-free container to maintain their shape and keep them safe. Proper storage ensures they’re ready for your next use.

How often should you clean lash ribbons?

For best results, clean your lash ribbons (check out more Lash Ribbons here) after every 2-3 wears, especially if you’ve used makeup on them. Regular cleaning prevents buildup and ensures the ribbons last longer.
